The university of Central Lancashire is a great university despite being low down in the league tables. I've only just finished my first semester but I've really enjoyed it so far. I'm studying photography and I have loved it. The course content is really interesting and the lecturers are helpful too. The best bit is the facilities.

The library is huge. Three floors of books and computers. Third floor is full of computers and macs. First floor there is a mac suite. Ground floor is also full of computers and study spaces. Plenty of space. Lots of books dedicated to course. Photography facilities are fantastic, mac suite, photography studios and darkroom. Better than most universities I looked at.

Compared to my home town it has a lot more to offer for a night out but I'd think that if you'd come from London or Manchester it wouldn't be that good. Student night is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I think but there's something on every night except Sunday. Clubs for all music tastes. Drinks are cheap too.

I'm studying photography. The course gives you a mixture of lectures, seminars and workshops. I've found the lectures really interesting and are catered for a whole range of interests in different genres of photography. In the first semester I was able to choose between experimental and fashion photography for an elective module. I chose fashion which I have loved. The seminars allow us to talk about our work and get help. The workshops are very practical and teach us the technical parts of photography. Overall really good.

Cheap compared to most universities I've looked at. About £100 for en-suite and £80 for shared bathroom. I share with six other people who I've become really good friends with. Don't have to move belongings out at Christmas or Easter. Most repairs come out quite quick but did take a while to come fix my fridge- just have to keep pestering.

The continued access to technical equipment relating to my course has been fantastic during my studies. Equally, the selection of books in the library is excellent, and the staff are always happy to answer any questions. The practicality of the campus could be improved by offering a campus shop, selling a range of food, such as snacks and meals etc. The shop that used to be open in the student hub was good, however is no longer in use. The cafes in the Media Factory and the new student centre are a nice place to sit to study, however the food seems to very quickly sell out, and there are often very few choices after 1pm.

Personally, I have found my course to be taught and delivered very well. The lectures are enthusiastic and inspiring to be around. They will go out of their way to offer one-to-one tutorials when needed.
