Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
My overall experience of university has been positive and filled with fond memories. The teaching as a whole was good, but due to contact hours was not worth the price. Societies, especially the university rugby union club, were vital to making my time at university enjoyable
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Libraries and work spaces around the uni are excellent, always tidy and always good resources available
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Student services is renowned within student circles as being unreliable and lacking. They often take a very long time to address issues you have, be that to do with wellbeing or to do with admin. They regularly are unable to offer any support and have been known to just not do anything. In terms of mental health and well-being, there are support groups and counselling available but most students prefer to go through the NHS GP practice that is on campus, rather than through the uni.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
The course is well taught all round, however in terms of value I feel it does not reach the £9.25k that we pay for it. During second year we had a total of 9 contact hours a week, and with moving online during the pandemic for third year that number has decreased further to an average of 5.5 contact hours per week.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
6
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
There are regular opportunities to attend seminars and meetings about jobs and future prospects, I just personally have not need to use them but I always get their emails
