Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
In general I think that the university is quite, of course there is a lot of work that has to be done but I did expect this. My course and what it offers is very interesting and also keeps me very busy as well.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
In general the facilities are good and have plenty of space; however the library needs to be expanded to accommodate large numbers during exam time.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
I feel that the chemistry department should provide more psychiatric support for students.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
I am not that aware of the student union's activities.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
I enjoy the market which adds a buzz to the city centre every weekend. There are many great pubs with tasty ales.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Due to the constraints of the course that I have, I have only been a part of tennis society; playing on occassion. However there are lots of socieities available.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
Labs are exciting, but there is lots of work.
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
It is harder than ever to gain a job, however I feel that the university try thier best to aid with this.
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Nick is a great landlord; the accommodation is relatively cheap as it is cheaper to live in York compared to London.
