OVERALL UNIVERSITY RATING
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
My experience so far has been both good and bad but I've loved it all the same, I'm in my final year and I will be sad to finish in a few months! But it'll be even nicer coming back for graduation and seeing everyone again!
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
Constantly receiving emails about guest speakers that may be coming in or informing us on sessions we can attend for a viarty of things that will increase our employability, there's also a building on main campus where we can book appointments or walks in for one to one and there's an office on kingsway aswell. People from careers and employability have come into lectures aswell to help and guide us and to give us times and places for certain activities
Course and Lecturers
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
The lecturers are all loving and make you feel confident and comfortable to talk to them, a lot of lecturers are still performing or are carrying on their learning by doing PhDs which is nice aswell, I've been able to choose all the modules I want to do in my final year giving me the motivation to learn and do things I love doing and am interested in
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
I think it's good, the run a variety of events all the time and support all the sports and societys and also support charities and local events, I don't really get involved because I don't have a lot of free time or money for events that cost. The President and Vice Presidents are all lovely and care about the students views on everything
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Nice and cheap with a lovely landlord and right next to main campus and only 5 minutes away from town so a perfect location for such a good price! And all bills are included in the rent!
How good are your university's facilities?
They're good but some could be better, for doing performing arts we need more rehearsal space as we only really have three rooms that we can properly dance in as they have sprung floors but otherwise the facilities are good
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
It's lovely, Chester is such a beautiful city and it feels like home from home! There's always events on and buskers in town and it feels safe which is an added bonus
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
The clubs are average and can be quite expensive so I don't tend to go out much to save money but they do hold good events
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Support is excellent! I personally suffer with an on going health problem and chronic pain and the staff could not be more supportive, we always receive feedback as we go along aswell we don't have to wait for an assessment for feedback
