The best is the amount of student opportunities. The accommodation is also very close to the university campus so is easy to get around. The worst is probably the lack of activities to do

All buildings are modern, with lots of study areas. The city is small yet safe. There are lots of places to enjoy yourself as a student. The student union is doing well here, with a good structure in place that allows students to provide feedback on their course. The student union pub, bar, and club are eye-wateringly expensive compared to other venues in the city. A lot of students give it a miss.

I am very happy with the education I have received while at university. All lessons are engaging and taught by professionals in their subject area with heaps of real-world experience. Placements are with East Midlands Ambulance Service, with alternative placements each year in different disciplines, such as A&E, UTC, GP and mental health.

Valentine Court is in a good location, around a 20-minute walk from the main campus. I was allocated a parking space, which I paid £10 a week for; however, this was prioritised for the medical and allied health students first before being allocated to other students. There is a tracked road behind the accommodation that has no parking restrictions, and lots of students park for free. The accommodations themselves were made up of individual townhouses in a horseshoe layout. Entry to each court was via your keycard, so it was safe. I opted for a quiet court due to being on a healthcare course. This, however, was not quiet. It was common for parties to happen most nights, and they did not stop even after contacting security. The maintenance of the accommodations was generally poor. The showers flooded easily, and I could not shower for more than 5 minutes without it spilling out onto the floor. Even after contacting maintenance, this was not fixed and was something I lived with for a year. They did fire drills often and tested the fire alarms weekly, which for a student on placement doing nights and sleeping during the day was not appreciated. I moved into private rented accommodation after my first year, which was heaps better than halls. I would recommend any student move into a private apartment with their friends or coursemates.
