The university itself is really good, all the buildings are in a good walk from each other and are all easy to get to and have all the facilities required for a good student experience. The university placement itself is good, being in a nice part of Portsmouth, which is quite rough around the edges as a city. Portsmouth is also a very affordable place to live. One of my biggest complaints is that some of the buildings are a bit outdated and on their last legs, and could do with renovations or being moved to another building. Another issue is that modules can happen in a wide range of different buildings, and with the university being dotted around the city it can be a nuisance to have to run around between lectures.

We have roughly 17 hours of contact time a week which is very good for a science, this leaves plenty of free time for extracurricular activities as well as self studies. The majority of the time our lecturers provide us with good quality lectures and are exceptional at keeping the online resources and lecture notes organised and available. The only issue I can think of is that sometimes content can be crammed, particularly in our practical lab sessions. For example, having a three hour lab session would be more ideal and allow students to not be constantly behind on their practical work.

Overall the accomodation is very good. The bedrooms are nice, the ensuites are a good size and don't have the showers practically hanging over the toilets like with a lot of ensuites, most of the time the staff are lovely, and events are frequently arranged for the students. On the other hand, the halls, stairs, and elevators are never cleaned and the bins area can sometimes overflow into the carpark if they are not taken away, as well as occasionally the staff can be rude.

Overall the experience has been great!! I feel welcomed and settled with lots of support and modern facilities, it has been easy to fund my way around, make friends and feel a bit more at home. the lectures are to a high standard and the teachers are very helpful with any queries. the only downside is the city is a bit empty in terms of uni night life and shops but thats a separate issue from the university directly.

the lifts never worked and for such a bug building and so many people 3 small lifts is ridiculous, they rattle in the wind and have heard people just dropping down loads of floors and getting stuck which i imagine is terrifying to experience. the room i got was unlucky sharing a wall with the kitchen, the room is tiny compared to other halls i have seen and my flatmates werent the nicest of people but security and front desk were always nice and welcoming if you needed a chat.
