I am really happy to be studying at BCOM. I like the family atmosphere provided. The fact that it is a small university, everyone is made really accessible and help can be seeked at any time. The student community is really tight and everyone knows everyone. Senior students are always happy to help and answer questions. It is a lot of work but you can feel yourself improving every day. I love the combination between theory and practicals. Moreover, the nutrition clinic, naturopathy and dissections are great additions. The tutors and other lecturers are all really knowledgeable and approchable. Coming from a foreign country, I am certain that I made the right decision choosing BCOM for my education.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
BCOM is located in a beautiful old building. Everything that we possibly need is present. We have an amazing library, computer rooms, practicals room, lecture theatre, common room with pool table, ping pong tables, etc.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
The support offered by uni is great. The tutors and persons from the administration are really accessible and always offert great support and solutions. Feedback are really made useful and fair. Counselling is also accessible.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
The Students' union represent the students really well, I feel really supported and my considerations are always taken seriously and solutions are quickly found.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
BCOM is situated in Finchley road, across the road of Finchley road tube station which has the jubilee and metropolitan line. Moreover, the overground station, Finchley road and Frognal, is situated only a few minutes walk from BCOM. Plenty of bus are also accessible. Plenty of shops are around uni. Primrose Hill is also at a walking distance which is ideal to go and relax after a day at uni.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
BCOM is a small uni and doesn't have a lot of societies and sports options. However, the student union is really active and always come up with great ideas for social events (Halloween, Christmas parties, Sports day).
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
What I like most about the way the course is taught is we have a lot of practicals classes which make the theory easier to understand as we can apply it.
What I like least are the long hours, which are necessary to become good osteopaths.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
24
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
BCOM often advertise to us work opportunities, CPD courses, conferences, talks, which is really helpful to increase our employability and develop new interests.
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
I live in Hammersmith, which is 35 minutes via the tube from BCOM. It is a really nice location, lively, secure and lots of things to do. I live in a one bedroom flat so the price is expensive but comparing the quality/price ratio, I am happy. My accommodation is situated in a gated development with security guards 24/7. The condition of the place is great.
