The facilities are amazing, from healthcare facilities, to a wide range of food to the wonderful library! There are lots of spaces that students can study and socialise. The support is brilliant, especially the new student hub and sensory areas. The lectures for all courses are so so passionate about what they teach and it really shines through. However, it could be improved by having a larger canteen area for seating as sometimes me and my friends struggle to find somewhere to sit even though there’s the dining room extension- sometimes we can’t find anywhere to sit! I think it would be beneficial to have an on campus shop, for emergencies and study buys ( many other unis have this and I think it would be a great addition)

The best areas is that we truly get our moneys worth as we are in every single day! It’s wonderful how we get a mix of seminars, workshops and lectures to meet all study needs. The lectures truly put effort and time into making sure the content taught is the best it can be. They are really supportive and will make adjustments such as placing you nearer home for placements. A positive criticism could be to make the seminars and workshops even smaller in terms of class sizes as it is hard some times to proper break a subject down and have a debate when there is like 20 of you.

The university is in a great location, with student accommodation nearby. York city centre is very nearby too which makes for easy access into town.

The lectures have been outstanding the past 3 years I have been studying, always available to help and provide support. The course is a lot of work therefore in university often, however it is interactive and an enjoyable course. To complete the course, 1,000 hours of placement must be completed which is organised well by the university.

Location was perfect for studying at YSJ with lots of shops nearby and a short walk into the city centre. The gated entrance and all doors locked only accessible via keycard made the buildings feel safe along with someone on reception 24/7 if any issues came up. If anything got damaged, the maintenance team were quick to fix it. The laundry facilities were good along with a small gym.
