It is a great mixture of city but also having a rural aspect with Bute park and Roth Park close by. The student atmosphere is great with students in the city. The students union and Wednesday YOLO are a great student experience with lots of clubs and societies to join. However the university is very spread out and sometimes can make it quite difficult getting to clubs especially if you are nervous to walk in the dark on your own. However there are normally people who live near you who you can walk with. In the CSL there is not alot of tables considering how big it is, it can be challenging to find a seat at the best of times. I have had to get in contact with student support a few times and they have been good, fast at replying and my lecturers are fast at replying and happy to help with any queries I have.

During COVID there was lots online however now in 2nd year as a cohort we are in pretty much daily which is good for building up report with course mates. The course content can be quite repetitive and in some cases the lectures are delivered a little late. For example we had completed a whole term doing problem based learning in a group and prior to that a whole first year which included starting a new course with new people and a placement. Then we got a lecture about team working which is what we had been doing. The lecturers are really helpful and are quick at replying to emails and they are very encouraging and they get to know you as individuals which makes them more approachable. The teaching quality can vary some lecturers are very engaging however some of the lecturers will read off the powerpoint. There is lots of time spent in lectures however inbetween lecturers there can be a gap of 3 hours which can be frustrating. Placements can vary personally i have had a positive experience. Especially on my second placement i had to move away the uni were very good at arranging accommodation and setting up 'peer support' which occurs every week where around 10 students in the cohort meet up online with a student facilitator and talk about how there week is going. THis allows you to relate to one another and make you feel more comfortable that what you are experiencing you ar enot alone. The facilities are good we are based on a hosptial campus so there is a real life setting next to where you are learning. However the food in the canteen is very expensive.

Taly is quite far out of the city centre but as there are so many students in this accomodation it is good as you are all together. You also have Bute park opposite the residency and have Aldi and tesco a short walk away. The room was good with an en suite and a shared kitchen. It was expensive for the simplisity of it and comparing taly south to taly court the price difference was a few pounds and the difference was quite significant in the quality of housing and facilities. However there are always people clearing up campus raking leaves and maintence are good at replying and coming to the flat. They change the shower heads every so often. Thee fire alarms worked. I felt safe as a student living there. A few times the wifi swithced off but overall pretty good.

The healthcare campus is positioned a lot further away than the other university buildings so it feels very separated. There are amazing healthcare facilities but they don’t utilise them enough. For example we have mock hospital rooms and learning suites but have rarely used them. The personal tutors provided don’t often keep in contact or help throughout the terms so it difficult to know who to go to if you need support.

The personal tutors don’t prioritise checking in with students, I feel they don’t really know there tutees. Often we go lots of group work which can be great but I’d love more lecture time on new /current things. The time table is often very full on and can have very long breaks between lectures
