OVERALL UNIVERSITY RATING
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
I have been here a month so far, and I have found it very enjoyable. The students and staff are all really lovely and there is a real community atmosphere and feeling here at UEA.
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
The uni has its very own career advice centre, 'Career Central' building right on campus where you can go and ask about future careers or twerk your CV for a part time job.
Course and Lecturers
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I love the way we are treated here at UEA, there is very much a feeling that we are Adults. I am studying Adult Nursing and love the balance of practical to theory work we are given. I also like the amount of personal study time that we get, I find that study certain subjects can be a lot easy when left to my own devices. On the down side, I think we could do with more interactions from our PA's.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
The SU hold brilliant activities all year round, from your nightclub events to an outdoor cinema. Wether you are a party animal or more of a laid back person, there is something for you.
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
My accomodation is situated in the centre of campus with fantastic views of the lake. The price is really reasonable especially as the rooms are a really nice size with loads of storage. The condition is good and there are plenty of preventive measures in place incase of fires.
How good are your university's facilities?
UEA has everything you need on Campus, wether you need your basic facilities like a fully stocked shop, launderette or 6 floor Library to a Huge sportspark and playing fields. If you're looking for a more social atmosphere, you can head to the SU Bar and then go onto the LCR for a night out.
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
The university is just on the outskirts of the city which has a brilliant bus route, taking you into the city centre, train station and a nice sized Morrisons every 5-7 minutes. The campus is extremely beautiful with its own lake and lots of scenery which gives you that country feeling even though you are in a city. Most accomodation is in the centre of the uni with the exception of the village which is a 10 minute walk.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
There are over 200 sports and societies from football to climbing and knitting to Harry Potter. There is everything and anything, if you can't find your niche just create your own club/society.
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
I think there is alot of academic support, if you are struggling, lecturers are very approachable or if you need help with referencing or easy writing,o the library hold plenty of drop in sessions, group and one-to-one.
I believe that there is still huge amounts of support needed for those suffering with mental health issues however, I do acknowledge that UEA is working on this
