All staff are extremely supportive. They really want you to succeed and will do everything in their power to help you achieve the impossible. We are provided with all information we need in a timely manner to support us with our studies. They make it very clear how important attendance and engagement is and it motivates me to ensure I join every lesson and do all the work expected from me to the best of my ability. There are so many support services available to all students covering money aspects, housing, childcare, uniform and so much more.

Due to being in my first year, I haven't had much experience with career prospects as it isn't entirely relevant this early on. I am on a blended learning course and we have regular breaks during our teams call to walk around and take a break from the computer screens. I find the course hours easy to adhere to and we have consistent support from our lecturers.

I have throughly enjoyed studying at UWE, Bristol over the last four months. Both campuses have a lot to offer with excellent facilities for all students to use when they wish both in and outside of the healthcare facilities. The range of options for placement, specifically relating to my course are great and stretch across the majority of the South-West of England, providing different opportunities for each individual. Outside of my degree I have had the opportunity to be apart of sports teams, opening myself up to new social experiences and playing against neighbouring university teams. This is a great way of immersing yourself in UWE's culture and making friendships with both older and younger individuals studying at the university. I believe UWE Bristol is a great place to study with the surrounding city having so much to offer within the social aspect. It is a very unique, vibrant and diverse city which is great for any university student. The only piece of advise for how my experience could be improved is communication aspects between students and staff. There can be mixed communication between the two or delayed information which can frustrate students and I believe if the university worked on this aspect it could be amazing.

The best part of my degree is the range of placements that are available to us. Our placement zone stretches across the entirety of the South West of England, providing equal opportunities for students who may not have the option to live on campus. Furthermore, the opportunity to do placement is so crucial in this degree and it is where you learn the most information about what is relevant within maternity services at that point in time. Additionally, we have skills days on campus which help us to know what we may expect when going onto placement, although students have to keep an open mind about these days as you are practicing on prosthetics when in reality it will be immensely different when out in practice. Apart from the practical side of our degree, our theory is based in three week blocks with lectures 3-4 days a week 9am - 4pm. This means you are trying to retain a lot of knowledge as best as possible in such a short amount of time, yet the information provided is what is needed for your practical components. These lectures are usually in person, yet some days they could be online which for me is one of the down falls of the degree. It can be hard to communicate and concentrate over online learning, personally, I prefer in person lectures where you can ask questions more frequently and be with others in the class where discussions and open ended questions can be asked more frequently. Overall, it is a great course to study, yet before coming into the degree you must acknowledge the time and effort this degree takes as you are working, whether in placement or theory at least 4 days a week full time.

The university halls I am currently staying in (Quantock Court) is great in terms of location and size. It is on the main campus, Frenchay which provides abundant opportunities to be involved in sporting teams, the students union, the gym and if you are studying a non-healthcare degree all your lectures are just outside your door. The rooms they provide, although more outdated than Wallscourt and Purdown, are a decent size, have good amenities and provide a enjoyable accommodation to live. Besides these positives, the maintenance teams are very hard to get in contact with, and if you do manage to get in contact, it takes a very long time for things to be fixed. After seeing Wallscourt and Purdown, I do believe you are getting more for your money by living in either of those two accommodations rather than student village as they are more up to date and pleasurable to live in.
