Worst is the times for lectures and good is the community that is built

Not many holidays for nursing students and it’ll be better for us to have this as it is a very draining course

Some of the best aspects of studying at Manchester metropolitan is the amount of support and facilities available. For example there’s nursing central, library workshops and personal tutors. However a downside to being a student in Manchester is that accommodation is difficult to find and I think it costs more on average.

The best aspect of my course is that there is a lot of support available. A downside to my course is that we are a very large group. Nursing is split into group a and group b. Each group has over 100 students in. So lectures don’t feel very intimate and it’s harder to get to know people.

Mill point is in a very good location. It’s about a 5 minute walk to Piccadilly station so there are lots of transport links nearby. It’s an 18 minute walk to the main campus and a 30 minute walk to brooks building which is where the majority of my nursing lectures are based. Also it’s a 20 minute walk to the arndale centre so there’s plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I like to shop at aldi and there’s one just a 15 minute walk away. Mill point feels quite safe, there are entrance gates in which u have to use your key fob to scan in. You also have to scan in to get into your block and then your flat and then you have a room key. The reception is also located right by the entrance so they are there to help. My room is quite a good size I have a small double bed and an en-suite. There are 6 people in the flat and we all share a kitchen. It would be better if there was some more fridge/freezer space. We have had some issues with appliances not working correctly when we moved in but when reported they were fixed or replaced within 24 hours. Furthermore, when we moved it our flat did not seem as though it had been cleaned very well at all. The kitchen floor was sticky, the windows were all mucky, our kitchen sofa has lots of marks and stains on it and so do the stools, the oven wasn’t very clean, and the bedrooms have sticky marks everywhere. They could definitely improve on cleaning, to save us from having to clean up other peoples mess when we move in. We are paying £180/week so I wouldn’t say a more thorough clean is unreasonable. But other than all that it is not bad, just a shame about how expensive accomodation is in Manchester for what you get. The internet is very good so can’t complain about that. The social aspect of this accommodation is a bit mixed. There’s a large mix of people from different year groups, and quite a few international students. If your wanting a really social uni experience this probably isn’t the one for you. However, it does sort of depend on what the people in your flat are like and there is definitely things going on. Another thing that’s worth mentioning is the noise. Mill point is neighbours with freight island and the warehouse project aswell as projekt skatepark. All of which you can sometimes hear playing music into the night. However the windows don’t let in a lot of this noise, so I still find it quiet enough to get to sleep.
