I believe Portsmouth is a fantastic place geographically with its vicinity to great landmarks, great places to hang out and chill with friends, the facilities that the university has, have allowed me to explore the possibilities and potential that I have. One thing that I would improve with the university is communication and optional modules that tailor to the individual courses as I believe, they aren’t quite tailored too fit the criteria of each course fully and allow students to grasp the different aspects of the optional modules.

I believe the course is taught very well with lectures who are confident and enjoy what they teach. We have a student teacher and she is working on her PHD whilst teaching our class. Her knowledge is applied throughout and I always leave knowing more than I did coming out with little questions to follow.

The halls that I stay in are modern and spacious whilst maintaining that level of privacy and security. My room is medium sized and the kitchen is more than adequate to fit the number of people that we have in our block.

This year has been difficult for everyone but university has kept me a little more sane than I would have been without it. Not only has my course been great with how they handled the switch to online learning and keeping us safe but the extra curricular activities such as societies have continued online and been a great help in keeping morale up. We have been functioning as normally as possible if remotely. Excited for more normality in the coming year though!

We have several performance spaces and rehearsal spaces in a building built for the needs we have as a course. Our technicians are always on site to provide help with technical details of performance, behind the scenes and sourcing equipment we need. We also have access to the main building of the artistic courses and can work in motion capture studios as actors or photography studios as models, etc.

We have a widespread outreach of mental health awareness and different facilities for in person or remote help. The union has advice centres for everything you could think of in terms of aid during your time studying. The well-being centre is situated next to the university doctors and opposite the union, so it’s all in one place.

Our lecturers worked really hard to transfer our learning online when the pandemic hit and it worked well for what it was but the nature of our course works best in studio spaces so we are all working hard to get back into the space safely and return slowly to normal. Always felt heard and safe in this environment.
