Leeds Beckett is in the city centre of Leeds which makes it fantastic for career opportunities. There is plenty to do and a thriving student night life. I think more could be done to create networking and opportunistic events for like minded students.

The creative facilities at Leeds Beckett are fantastic and are amongst the best in Europe. There's so much potential at Leeds Beckett for you to develop your skills even further and become very specialised. However, I feel as though the course falls short with it's student support, not for well-being or financial reasons, but how our lecturers and teachers interact with us. It feels as though there are not enough events and opportunities being set up/ created by the course teaching team and the course feels a little too much like a learning from home activity. To reinforce this, in many of my lectures and tutorials, the amount of students that attend the course at the beginning of term compared to the end of the term is a staggering difference. With classes of 30, sometimes ending up to be classes of 5-6 students by the end. Furthermore, the percentage of students that get a placement year with my course is a horrifying 8%. With the little statistical information I've given it's hard to determine a cause for this, however, I think student attendance would be a lot better if they felt like there was a reason to attend their lectures. At the end of the day its a creative course, its a bunch of fun and you have chosen it because you live and breath it. I have attended, volunteered, and looked for musical opportunities through the student union, lecturers, friends, and people working in the industry, however I still feel very lost and without support. Even though I have had two careers guidance appointments, and currently work as a student rep and course rep. Finding a placement within the music industry has ultimately come down to people I have known through other people. Choosing music production was such an excitement at first, but now it just feels like waiting for the impending doom of getting an unrelated 9-5 job because "there's a shortage of career opportunities". Well if that is the case, why didn't I know about this at the open day? I'd also like to add that I've spoke to multiple students that say if they knew what the course was really like they would have not applied for it in the first place, even with the exceptional facilities.

Broadcasting Tower is in a fantastic location and is actually a part of the universities campus. So traveling to university and the costs that come with that are non-existent. I do think the cost for the rooms are exceptionally high, especially when you can get basically the same facilities just 10 minutes out of the city centre with The Tannery. I'm not sure if this falls under the accommodations property management, but my friend had his bike stolen when it was in the accommodations bike shelter with no compensation, and I don't think it's particularly fair, especially when it was securely fastened.

Very welcoming and perfect location and city, however union or societies could hold more events.
