A good university and, in my regard, the best in Staffordshire. It is a very large campus. It provides excellent student support and very good student facilities. Excellent learning resources are provided for each course. The extensive Library in the heart of campus provides both excellent physical and online material, including private and group study space. There are Frequent events and parties in the main buildings and each residence hall has its specific events. Accommodations are secure. Two bus routes are going through the campus. Keele GP is unfortunately at the edge of the university's campus. The University has also recently erected several new buildings purposed for specific courses. The campus's location is unique compared to other universities in the UK, located in the middle of a forest, next to a farm and a serene small village. The University hosts a beautiful mansion house with a garden and a clock house, with a good view of the countryside near the M6. There is a large area dedicated for sporting activities and an observatory. The main negatives that I can identify are that: the only store chain is the Co-op and the university is situated between two hills, on a hill, 2 miles away from Newcastle City centre, so any journeys without a car or commuting by bus are difficult.

The university provides excellent material and facilities for its courses. The teaching staff is very supportive and takes feedback during the semester. Sometimes, there are international lecturers who are harder to understand at times. Otherwise, the learning experience is excellent.

Starting with this important fact: THERE IS NO WIRED ETHERNET ACCESS IN ALL STUDENT ACCOMMODATIONS THROUGHT THE CAMPUS. That is my main problem with this university's accommodations. There used to be a functioning (accessible) wired network called "HallsNet" before 2016-17 academic year, although it was itself limited in functionality. Currently, each accommodation is provided with a wireless access point with no Ethernet/LAN sockets for devices that may not have wireless functionalities. Although the wireless network is very fast and above adequate for phones, laptops, etc, it is impossible to request a different access point with a port or even finance your router, as the IT and Accommodation departments are stringent and obstinate to such initiatives. I am hoping that will change, and ethernet/LAN access can be arranged on a per-case basis. Regarding other aspects of the student accommodations. They are not cheap. In the 2024/25 academic year, the rent will increase across the accommodations by up to 7.85%, whilst the maximum maintenance loan will increase by 2.5%. Private or Student housing alternatives are mostly found in Newcastle. However, water, electricity and wifi are all included in the rent. The deposit is not dear and consists of an advance payment that counts into your rent. All main accommodation blocks have lifts. There is a cleaning team cleaning the communal space every other day, and someone will clean your ensuite every week on a set day. Accommodations keep the heat in, at least at Holly Cross as it was built with bricks. Accommodations come with handsome contents insurance and there is a 24/7 security and emergency utility team accessible. Resident advisor(s) have shifts and can be spoken to in person, or online (can even request to come to your flat to talk with). The estate management is friendly and faults are taken care of the same day if reported in the early morning or sometimes before noon, and the next day if reported later. Kitchens have communal space for many persons, but only 2-4 people can cook at the same time. There are 3-4 small fridges in the kitchens. Finally, the post is not delivered to the block, but instead to the dedicated University Post Room, separate from the University Post Office. Every couple of weeks there are short but loud fire alarm tests in the late morning for which you are not required to leave your room, and kitchen doors have alarms if you open them wrong, you will learn not to trigger them once you settle in.
