It has been hard during COVID-19 to feel motivated and/or understand the work that’s being taught as the barrier of online learning hinders progress. Overall it’s been manageable but because i’ve pushed myself to learn content, for people who don’t have that push from teachers or themselves I believe it would have been really difficult

I really enjoy uni as it is giving me the chance to build my career with knowledge and experience, alongside tutors and peers with a similar headset to me. I've found it really easy making friends with the people on my course from having those similar ideas and goals, and it gave us all something to initially talk about. Its really cool that you can vent and build ideas and projects with so many people, with really great access to an abundance of industry standard technology, that otherwise would be really difficult to even know where to being to learn or even get your hands on! All the studios are top quality and being attatched to the conservatoire means access to top quality musicians, (when they are willing to oblige, (which isnt always!)) to record and produce. I love uni!

The class rooms and suites are all really well kitted out with plenty of facilities for private study. The only thing lacking is the plug sockets in lecture rooms! I use my laptop a lot and luckily it holds a good charge, but i feel a bit lost when my battery is dead and i am wanting to access powerpoints!

I am currently in the process of dyslexia screening and it has been really supportive. The only problem being the lack of people who deal with this department, but they have said they are in the process of hiring more due to the larger demand. Overall thought the support has been really helpful and easy to find, it is just a lengthy process unfortunately.

I get lots of emails from them with updates, but not so many that it's annoying and filling my inbox. I probably haven't been studying long enough to comment on the representation, but it all seems very inclusive and helpful in guidance. The union Bar is good but it has a wierd system that doesn't follow the standard approach the bar and wait to get served. They make a formal queue like in a shop that they seem quite strict with.

Yes, uni is a 5-10 minute walk from my flat, depending on which campus I am on. it is a 15 minute walk from city centre so its really nice and close for anything i need to get too. There are also some good bars attached to the uni for a quiet lunch time pint!!

There is a good variety. Caters to a wide range of activities and inclusive societies, also with plenty of new experiences to try!!

I really like the labs/ tutorials as they're really hands on and imersive and give a good chance to put knowledge to application. I don't feel like I get a lot from lectures, but that could be down to the way I learn.

The tutors on my course are always encouraging industry work by helping to point in the right direction of opportunities or even offering shadowing positions alongside themselves. All of the tutors I've had so far are all still working in the industry and are keen to get us as students working in the same industry!

I really would not reccomend lakeside. It is the party accommodation of aston and BCU. My flat smells constantly of weed and there is always loud music playing somewhere. The price is fine and the location is nice. I am currently in the process of moving to Mary Sturge, which is just across from lakeside. This looks and feels much nicer although the rooms are a little bit smaller. Even the unite staff say lakeside needs remodelling!
