Sussex university has a beautiful green campus filled with trees, plants, and birds which is lovely when walking to and from lectures. Additionally, when talking to the wellbeing team they were all very helpful and nice to talk to. The location of Sussex campus is just outside of Brighton, a diverse and friendly city, but because it is just outside it is quieter and a better place to study. Despite being out of the city it has great public transport links with regular buses running through campus all day & night and a train station very nearby. The only problem ive encountered is when reporting a issue with on campus accomodation they tend to take a while, and bounce you from office to office to report said problem.

Im not too far into my course at the moment so things like work placements & internships havent been brough up yet however they do have internal jobs you can apply to do as a student to help run open days or work in the on campus co op! The music facilities are some of the best ive seen with Sussex being a Steinway uni and also having 24hr studios meaning you can go write a song whatever time inspiration hits.

Brighthelm is a great accommodation, the accommodation is set out like a housing estate with numbered houses each with around 5 occupants. This creates a feeling of community, and living in a house can help with homesickness as it is familiar if you are living in a house before moving to university. It was my first choice of accommodation and I’m glad I got it!

I studied Music at Sussex. The campus life was fantastic alongside living in the quirky town of Brighton. Other students were mostly very bright and on the whole my experience was largely positive. There is a fantastic Music scene in Brighton so as a student of the subject I was not short of projects to get involved in.

For my course they were very good. There was a very good music studio with easy 24hr access.

Lecturers were supportive if you had any issues.

Lots of exciting societies to get involved with. This paired with good student bars and the campus atmosphere made for a fantastic student union.

Brighton is great! Lots of bars, clubs, festivals, theatre, ext.

The quality of courses and lecturers varied. Alongside quite a thin amount of contact time, some of the lectures seemed a little poorly planned. Personal tutorials with lecturers however, were of very high quality. Because the course was small in size, some of the contact was incredibly beneficial.

Although I expected rather poor job prospects due to my choice of degree, I felt the university could have created more opportunities for students. I had a few consultations with a career advisor at the University but found them not to be particularly useful.

Halls of residence were of good quality. Many of the student properties that you will find in Brighton suffer from damp. Prices are also prohibitive, although not as expensive as London.
