With my experience here at uni, since it’s completely different to what I’m used to it’s been absolutely fantastic so far. Of course it has its ups and downs but Uni life in general is going to be hard for everyone. All the events that go on for BIMM Students , I will admit is a bit too much, event after event and of course us first years are going to want to go to them all and not miss out but we can’t so it’s a bit of a bummer. As for our modules within our courses, I wish we learnt stuff more relevant to want we all want to achieve with our time here. In songwriting, we do learn how to develop our techniques and whatnot but I’d love to like learn how it is in the industry like, write under pressure like I know we’re going to have to in the future, it’s stressful but we’re going to have to in the future. I know not all of us want to be artists per se but a lot of us do. My best aspect being here so far have to be the networking events, I love being social and just talking to people and meeting new people to possibly collab with so that has been awesome for me! My worst aspect so far, I feel like it’s just like the actual learning part, sounds stupid but like some classes really lose my focus and interest after a few minutes, I’m being completely honest here.
I have 0 complaints about BIMM overall so far, everyone’s so nice and friendly and supportive and I’m forever grateful for student support <3

For course content etc, it’s been decent, one thing I will say before I go on a tangent, I wish tutorial sessions with different tutors were longer, I don’t feel like I learn a lot in a 20 minute tutorial.
I have almost nothing bad to say about my modules.
I really like what I’m taught in like collaboration and performance because we get to do what we came here to do, write, perform and learn from it :) course hours are okay, I would love a longer time for collaboration and performance but 2 and a half hours is okay too.
The way we’re taught within my course, is fairly simple and easy to understand, most of the time, I feel like thats just more me not asking what things mean and such though so I can not really complain on that.
The best thing about my course is well being able to meet other songwriters and being able to have that connection with other people who are on the same level as you (if that’s how you would put it) with what you want to do. I love that there is so many opportunities for us as songwriters like, recently there was a competition announced for songwriters (sadly I can’t enter but it’s an opportunity for other amazing songwriters).
The worst aspect(s) of my course, I wouldn’t say there is many, not at the moment. Although. I wish we had more modules. At the same time I’m happy we don’t have more than 4 but sometimes it would be nice to have more modules to attend that are strictly songwriting and talking about the industry and such (I feel like we already have a lesson like that but I honestly forget)
Good job BIMM :)

Some teachers are really good and I love how supportive they are! The biggest downside though is that the tutorials (which really are the most important part of bimm life in my opinion as they give individual support which is essential as an artist) are booked out within seconds and we have to stay awake till midnight to book them, and then don’t even get a place most of the time. We need more tutorials, especially for singers/ vocals and more time (45mims instead of 30) and better teachers as well unfortunately. The vocals teachers are sometimes a bit disappointing.

The course could and should go into much more detail. Lecturers are supportive but I wished there was more structure sometimes.
