I enjoy having practice rooms to myself but the equipment could be improved

Most of the tutors are great

At edge hill I believe the facilities are very good for my course. However in the semester the lessons that are timetabled don’t make use of these, for example, I am taking a module studying synthesis and we’re not making use of the synth room available on campus. There are modules that are the opposite of my course aswell. There is a mandatory module in which we must perform live. I am uninterested in doing this in a music production course as this is irrelevant and a waste of energy that could be put into learning how to use the Studios or Synths available. Using the studios outside of lesson time is possible, however only from 10-1 or 1-4. I am in second year of university now and am unable to confidently use these studios as I haven’t been taught in lesson. So when using these facilities outside of timetabled lessons I am limited in what i can achieve without having to ask for help. Student life is standard and the uni don’t offer nights out for the course or organise band nights for people to get together. It’s left to the students, for so much money per year you’d maybe expect them to organise a band night.

Again the facilities are brilliant, the lecturers are very nice and friendly however their lessons don’t seem to be as engaging as I thought. Mostly I’m using ableton or Logic Pro on a Mac, which I can do at home. if they made use of the facilities or showed us how to use them the lessons would feel more special.

Got really lucky in halls and had really nice flatmates. Building was good with expected facilities.
