Being a campus based university, it is very convenient for students, the city Center is just a 10min train journey. There are so many clubs and societies and opportunities that you never feel bored. It’s an environment that pushes you for excellence, hard work while keeping a healthy life balance. One thing that could be improved is the mental health aspect; it can feel isolating and not knowing how to manage the stress can lead to burnouts. The LES college and school of psychology can also improve their communication system and create a more centralised system for when students seeks academic support and mental health help. A final thing would be to provide timetables in advance; the short notice timetable changes and delayed upload of timetables made it difficult to plan in advance

One of the major things to consider when choosing a course. The BSc Human Neuroscience course is by far a multidisciplinary course providing great insight into cognitive, cellular and molecular neuroscience from major disciplines such as: psychology, medicine, bioscience and philosophy. However, it is worth noting that getting a broad overview doesn’t necessarily allow you to specialise in a specific sub field. Unfortunately due to COVID there has been a cut down in optional modules and it’s also worth noting that the 3rd year project can only be taking at the school of psychology so the project will definitely be on the behavioural aspect of neuroscience. One major aspect that can be improved by the school is the lack of internship/work experience opportunities and lack of career prospects. Again, due to the interdisciplinary nature of the course, it is difficult to tailor everyone’s particular career preferences but this can definitely be improved!

I had a great time in halls (despite the COVID outbreak). Shackleton is great if catered, don’t like to party a lot and like a quiet place. However it can be a bit isolating, you don’t get the hall family vibe as much but the rooms are great and the kitchen is nice and big plenty of space to have people over! Maple bank is cosy and sweet. Yes it is the cheapest so you don’t get as much space and have to share a bathroom but you can still have a great time if you don’t mind the above and don’t like cooking (cause the kitchen is small).
