The campus is ideal, very modern but also surrounded by nature and greenery which makes it a relaxing space to work on coursework, attend lectures or seminars and go to Student Guild activities. The library has a good amount of space and the Forum facilities are extensive. Career Zone is also very active in student life to support next steps after uni graduation. Not forgetting our Campus cat Napoleon, the atmosphere here is very warm and there’s a place for every student!

Generally I am pleased by the way my course is delivered, for Modern Languages we receive a good amount of contact hours, which as you can imagine is really important for language learning especially any ab initio language. Our teachers are for the most part incredibly invested and willing to go out of their way to help you, in my experience. There is also a dedicated Team in place to offer support and advice for placement year abroad (year 3) and this support starts well in advance such as March of Year 1 so we have time to start processing our options and chose what will best suit each individual student. A negative is that I have experienced delayed feedback for submitted assignments on the ELE digital system which can be frustrating when as students we submit our work by the given deadline but the staff need additional time, sometimes without informing students that our grade will be delayed so we are left in the dark for a week or so.

The location was great, however the wifi would sporadically have outages for 5 hours at a time at least once a term, which is frustrating when you are trying to complete an assignment on your laptop, this usually happened at the weekend whivh meant it was slower to resolve the issues as IT technicians weren’t working. Also room allocation is random and all for the same price for example my room was ground floor which meant students would often be outside my window socialising and smoking and if i had my window open i would get the smoke coming into my room and hear every word of the conversation. Also the natural lighting wasn’t great, though having an En Suite was certainly an advantage you are paying for it with New Laf having such high rent.

It is a very green university. The location is great as it has a lot of forests and beaches. There are so many societies, which is one of the best things about the university I think. Any society you can imagine, the University of Exeter probably has it. The wellbeing services are okay. In terms of night life, the bars and clubs aren't as good as they would be in London, for example, but they aren't that bad. I think the main thing I like about the campus is that it is very green. There are a lot of different study spaces such as the forum, the loft, the old library etc. The university offers a range of different degrees - much more than some other universities, I really like that about the University of Exeter. For example, I know people who did the flexible combined honours programme where you can combine 2 different subjects, even some that seem not very related, such as French and Film. The University of Exeter is one of the few universities that offers a 3 language degree programme, which I am a part of. That is one of my favourite things about this university - the range of degrees. My 3 language degree is so varied which makes it really easy to study. Exeter is a nice city. There is the Quay and a lot of restaurants and cafes. There is always something to do! The university always has some sort of event running, which makes university life very interesting.

The course hours and contact with lecturers are fine and I like how a lot of the modules are coursework based, not all though as a lot of them also have one final essay wort 100% of your grade which can create a lot of pressure. My course is taught online. Some of my core language modules had a lot of unnecessary topics where we would learn for example how to say a garden fork in a different language, a word that I will probably never use. The practicality disappointed me a bit. However, saying that, it does offer a study abroad which I really appreciate as it gives practical experience for language learning.

There isn't too much diversity to be honest. The cost of living isn't too bad though

It was catered and the value of money was okay. I was in the year where you wouldn't have a roomate so I had 2 beds all to myself whilst paying the same price as people who had single rooms which was nice. The food was quite good most of the time. I loved the common room and the library - it gave a lot of opportunities for socialisation!
