Great uni, beautiful campus. Staff always willing to help. Friendly diverse city, loads of societies to join and a real sense of community and friendliness around campus. A great place to study and learn.

The best aspect of Nottingham Uni is the amount of support you receive, there is always someone who can reach out to. If you wish to be more anonymous while seeking help, there’s also a service called nottingham helpline. Its a beautiful uni with lots of parks nearby giving you a countryside feel. Nottingham city center is also a short commute away, and it offers a wide variety of nightlife, restaurants and bars. The worst Aspect of Nottingham Uni is that sometimes communications via email is not always prompt. They usually have issues with personal tutors not responding and cancellations to timetables are made last minute. But it definitely is being worked on!

Most lectures at nottingham are in-person, with maybe one or two lectures each week being self-directed learning. There are practicals and workshops to supplement our learning, but some weeks it can feel very lecture-based. The best aspect of my course is that there is cadaveric dissection, this gives an opportunity to apply learnt knowledge and takes learning anatomy to the next level. It also humbles you and gives you a reality check, preparing you for life as a doctor. There are also hospital and GP placements from year 1, I’ve really enjoyed those and found it to be a great way to learn clinical skills. However, One thing I’d like to note is that there can be an issue with personal tutors not responding to students, I know the uni is working on this, however its just something to note.

Because I study medicine, picking willoughby was not the best choice for me(location wise) as its a 25minute walk to lectures. However, getting to city center is really easy as the university boulevard tram stop is five minute walk away and the Lenton bus stop is two minutes away. The fire alarm does go off quite a bit in willoughby, so thats something to be weary of. The rooms are decent for university halls, the extension block rooms have a sink in the room, and there is plenty of storage.
