I am really happy at Leicester after my first couple of months at uni. Everyone at Leicester has been so welcoming from the staff to the students. Freshers week for my course was amazing, with lots of events arranged by the medical society, specifically for medical students. It’s a really good chance to make lots of friends on your course early on. With regards to the course, it’s really well structured and exactly format I desired when applying to study medicine, with lectures and small group work. The course even has a health enhancement programme within it, which promotes good mental health and well-being. The academic staff are great, not just clear and knowledgeable but also very kind and considerate. There is lots of support at the uni, if you need it, from academic support to welfare and well-being support. There isn’t anything yet that I think needs improving at Leicester.

My course is really well structured and everything I wanted when applying to study medicine. It’s a mix of lectures and small group learning in phase 1 of the course with placements and clinical experience in year 2. The academic staff are not only really knowledgeable and clear but also very considerate and approachable. There is always someone you can contact about anything.

In my course the lecturers are qualified for lab work and they are really organised. But my accommodation is really humid and mouldy. The city centre is too small and everything closes really early. There are good resources for books and the gym is really nice. I don't like the cultural events because non-students are allowed to attend and it is not educational. The SU is nice- it has a Starbucks.Some lectures focus on career development- they show you how to write a CV which is really helpful. I would recommend this Uni to students that have a family. The nurseries are close, which is good for parents.
