So far I have thoroughly enjoyed my university experience and living in Sheffield. I have now been here for almost 5 years and made some great friends through societies, university and sport clubs. Everything I need is right on my doorstep and I hope to stay here once I have finished my postgraduate degree

The university continually sends emails regarding recruitment fairs of companies which come to visit, advertising jobs and graduate schemes. Amongst the course we undertake clinical placements, including an elective where we can visit departments and gain experience. There is also an employability module which allows us to adapt our CV's, write personal statements and enhance extra curriculum activity to improve employability.

The best part of the course is being able to undertake a clinical placement. This allows us to have practical experience, and enhance our employability for when we qualify. The lecturers make a conscious effort to ensure the academic content we undertake is relevant to our clinical practice, and work hard to ensure we are all confident and competent when we qualify.

The student union is an aspect which I feel lets down the university. It is very small and in a location which is not easily accessible. As a student when you first start university, the union can be an important aspect so I feel this does need some improvements. However the fact that Sheffield is a vibrant and lively city makes up for the poor student union.

The accommodation in Sheffield for students is excellent. The location is great for university and placement, with easy access to shops and restaurants. The house is a good size, fully furnished and well looked after by the landlord/letting agents.

The university facilities are great for the course and any extras such as the gym, sport grounds etcs. They are fully accessible most of the time - with the library being open 24 hours a day... an important aspect of student life!!! With the university being fairly modern, the equipment/technology is excellent especially within the radiotherapy and oncology course. This is great for our learning, and allows us to prepare for clinical practice.

I feel City life for Sheffield Hallam is one of its best features. The city is very student orientated, with great bars, clubs and restaurants all within walking distance. Meadowhall is only a 10-15 minute drive away, so the shopping is great too. Even if you need a break from the city, the Peak District is right next door which makes Sheffield so great for the best of both.

The clubs and societies I have participated in are all very welcoming and enjoyable. They are a great way to make friends and fun to undertake while being a student.

There is so much support within the university you are almost spoiled for choice! Academic staff are all very approachable for feedback if needed, and always looking of ways in which they can support us throughout university . Each course has a student support officer who you can speak to/contact about almost any issue - related to the course or home life. This can be very important as many people are away from home for the first time and quite far too.

I have really enjoyed university so far and feel like i've recieved lots of help and support. Im very comfortable where I am and would recommend my uni and course to anybody. I've met lots of interesting people and got involved in lots of interesting things.

50% of my course is placement based in a hospital. There are many extra lectures and seminars that give you employability skills. We do lots of extra training and continual professional development and we are invited to lots of conferences. we can also take part in elective placements and be student ambassadors

There's a lot of placement so you an learn whilst you're getting stuck in and the lecturers are most of the time free to talk and help. We get lots of feedback to help us improve and we get to know our lecturers and clinical staff really well.

I don't get involved because it's very small and it's near the other campus which is quite far away from my campus. It's also expensive compared to a lot of other places.

I live in a flat with 5 other girls in a building that has 3 other flats in it. It's very simple but it's nice. There's 2 bathrooms and an open plan living area and kitchen. It can be quite noisy and you can hear everything that goes on throughout the building. There's parking at the back and it is right next to campus. The rooms are fairly big and full of the furniture you need (shelving, desks, wardrobe, draws, bed etc).

Our facilities are amazing. We have an amazing gym and fitness facility that is open to students and the public but we also have really good equipment everywhere else, we have amazing planning suites and simulator equipment and lots of things to help us with our mandatory training. Our library is really good, we have two, one at each campus, both have amazing staff, really good equipment and lots of rooms that you can book out for group studying as well as silent study rooms. There are good cafes in a lot of the buildings too.

The city life is really good, there's lots of different places to go and none of them are too far away from each other. There's lots of different student nights and places are generally quite cheap and there are lots of different offers.

The clubs and societies are fairly good. There's lots of different options to take however, as I'm on placement in a different city for a lot of the year, I cannot afford to pay membership for a club that I can't actually attend a lot of the time.

really good. there's lots of different people that you can go to speak to and there are special student support offices and centres within some of the buildings. Each course is allocated a special student support officer and they can help. The academic staff are also very supportive and they give you lots of feedback and advice. They are willing to give you their personal numbers so that you can phone or text them if you need anything from them.
