Overall a bit of a disappointing year. University has been doing the best they can under the circumstances but general experience has suffered massively from lack of in-person teaching. Still hoping for a sweet tuition fee refund/reduction but that doesn’t seem very likely.

The campus itself is very beautiful, with very easy accessability through walkways and bus routes that allow students to remain connected to university activities and stay in touch with each other. That being said, the student union regularly makes this a difficulty, functioning more to pad out the resume of the people on it than to actually help the students or make their time enjoyable. Regular filler emails with nothing of note are spammed out from them while their entire attention is spent on sports societies, often paired with trying to deratify any other societies that don't fit into this cliché, even when these societies are first and foremost support networks for vulnerable individuals. Those who try to work with YUSU to improve things are regularly talked down to and mocked while simultaneously being given massive workloads with no credit for their achievements, including but not limited to taking credit for independent charity fundraising done without any intervention from the YUSU body.

The content of the lectures are usually engaging, with an in depth explanation on concepts along with regular support hours to hash out any confusion about certain areas. However, whether a module can be passed and understood can be nearly entirely dependant on which lecturer is teaching, with some lecturers being amazing and others not even showing up until 40 minutes into the lecture at times. Compounding on to this, the workload is horribly spaced, with some year requiring only 2 modules per term and others needing 7, leading to a fleeting understanding at best of certain areas that just can't justify more time on the student's side to devote to.

The location of the now decommissioned halls was lovely, being right in the middle of everything I needed to reach. That being said, every other part was terrible aside from the provided food. There were rats, regular black outs, the tech support blocked our numbers so they could stop fixing things, the heating broke, I'm pretty sure I got pneumonia from the cold in the winter as my room remained unheated with a giant single glazed window. I could list more, but the fact the building is now decommissioned for being too unhealthy to live in speaks for itself. What's truly horrid is that this awful accommodation cost more than my entire maintenance loan to live in.
