The facilities for support are incredibly accessible and you’re constantly reminded what and when they are. This makes it feel like while you still feel as independent as any other university student, you’re not entirely left alone and every week there’s multiple sessions organised where you can get help, alongside always being able to book meetings to suit your own timetable.

I am so happy that everything is done in person whilst it’s still recorded so can be rewatched. It means that I tend to put all my energy into just listening in the lectures so I pick up more and then I can rewatch them and make notes later on. I have quite a lot of hours compared to some other subjects but I haven’t felt it’s too much at any point and like the structure it gives my weeks.

I absolutely adore the city, as much as I love big cities, I’m from Manchester, I really wanted to experience living somewhere different. It’s very pretty and has so many quirks to it but also has surprisingly good night life. My least favourite thing about York, both the city and the university, is it is much less diverse than what I’m used to and I would love if there was more diversity here. Hopefully that’s something that will improve.

The halls I stay in are in the form of lots of houses linked together and it feels very much like a community. I’m right next to the common room and it’s nice to be able to hear other students in there. I’m very happy with my room’s size, I think it’s the biggest I’ve seen out of anyone here (apart from people in the same college) and also of any of my friends at different universities. The shared bathrooms are kept very clean and I’ve never had a problem with the conditions they’re left in.
