Best aspect: The Islamic society and the facilities for marine biology make it a very nice uni Worst aspect: WiFi in halls a bit poo, and as a Muslim I am not a big fan of stags, the sports bar on campus. Often many cool events are held there for various societies, but the environment makes me uncomfortable both personally and as a Muslim.

I absolutely love my course, my hours are nice and the content + unique facilities such as the research vessel Callista provide really valuable hands on experience. If I had to give any downsides, it would be the distance of NOCS (National Oceanography Centre) from the main campus as well as my halls of accommodation. Then again, travelling is integral for marine biology in my opinion so its not too bad.

Wessex Lane is nice, my room is pretty good and the kitchen is not tiny. There are some minor anx major gripes though. For example the bathroom is a wee bit small, which admittedly I can get used to. However the WiFi is absolutely horrendous for the amount I'm paying. I wonder if eduroam is this poor for everyone or just me.

The SU is getting better but during lockdown did little to outreach to students. Mental health help was hard to find and student inclusion did lack massively. very few people made friends in lockdown which made it difficult to take on opportunities too. today, I still think the uni is lacking communication on these. I still don't know what mental health provision is available apart from a few free things during exam periods.

i appreciate the amount of in person lectures, i learn best during these. however, some lecturers continue to use online formats which are of little benefit. sometimes it is expected that you just understand what is said and moved on from so it can be hard to take everything in.

great proximity to amenities though was expensive. there is no access to true fresh air since the windows don't open- this was a major struggle in lockdown. the lift was consistently broken which caused mobility issues. rooms were unevenly distributed, some were majorly bigger than others for the same price point. security used to accuse us of breaching lockdown rules when we were in the kitchen as a flat despite us all living there, whilst they entered without warning nor any PPE. no activities were run to include this hall with glen or monty.
