Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
Hey everyone this review will be lengthy so grab your coffee...
So I was told not to go to this university by my counterparts, but i like to try things and experience it for myself, so this is my story!.
In first year we were literally in lockdown so in the beginning I was situated on Docklands Campus which I find awkward to get to due to where I live (near Gatwick Airport) but if you live in central London there is great transport links. Online we had our lectures through teams and they would be recorded whereas seminars were not. Some lecturers do not care about the development of students, I had asked Mark a question in Mental Wealth and he asked the class to use google and figure it out. My best friend left in first year due to staffs attitude and her grades went up after that...
In all honesty not all staff are like this but there is a greater amount, they just dont care full of entitlement.
In year two, back on campus, teachers were quite engaging, seminars we would read, re-inact situations, of quizzes and group work and much more. I found second year teachers ore inclusive and caring. There is so much academic help, theres drop ins where student and staff will read your drafts for grammar, punctuation and spelling or you could attend OSCOLA or Harvard seminars and learn what is expected of you, on week 12 teachers run through the structure of your assignments, etc, which can be helpful. Libraries on Docklands and Stratford are 24 hours, and theres always staff ready to help, self-service book check outs, we even have COSTA, STARBUCKS AND Starbucks on campus. If you are situated on USS like I am it's quite central, ample amount of shops, restaurants and so. Student unions useless, We have an underground bar which I cannot account for as it's on the docklands campus and It wasn't open when I used to be there. There are three campuses USS, Stratford (both in Stratford) and Docklands (opposite ldm city airport).
Opportunities - The career zone is quite useful ,I currently work at the university myself, and the pay is really great at £13 a hour, work from home? there is a LOT of responsibility and work required, but there are different opportunities that arise, even MP Stephen Timms have got two undergrad students as his interns from Law Department.
We have visitors like Gina Miller, whistleblowers, King Charles visited and the late Queen.
This year (2023) we are celebrating 125 years of UEL.
We also have all gender, women and mens toilets situated on each floor. Personal work spaces, group working rooms, mooting rooms, dance studios and much much more!

The study hours are terrible, I hate when I start at 9am, due to it costing so much to commute there, but according to Lorna McFarlane that's my fault I should choose a university that's close to me?
