The best part of SOAS is that the campus is full of diversity and anyone would feel home. Not only students but also tutors are all so friendly and I’m been feeling welcomed all the time. The worst part is that the office functions are not really clear and sometimes it is confusing who is in charge of what.

My course is very flexible and students are free to choose either coming to the classroom or joining from home online. Even when students are away, they all can freely join the discussion, and lecturers are also very welcome. Having fruitful discussion with all class mates and lecturers is the best part in my course. The worst part is that there are not so many options of modules. But this is fine for me, who focuses on Japanese translation because it is enough covered. Students who does non- East Asian language may struggle with finding the best modules.

Studying at SOAS University of London is a wonderful experience. Located in the heart of London you get to explore beyond your study area by SOAS - because it is such a culture rich, welcoming place. Lots of opportunities available for you to spend your time, including societies and socials. Campus is very close to Oxford street where you can find everything ranging from food to clothing and technology. The students are very well supported both their module leaders and departments, faculties, I managed to get help on every problem I had so far. It's been 4 months for me at SOAS and I would definitely recommend it.

So far I have been satisfied with my course, but I must say that I came SOAS for the option of doing Practical Translation Modules by the language pair English-Turkish, even though I asked many times before I came and I received answer yes, when I came this language pair was not available therefore I had to drop the module. Other than that, the module list given to me in the beginning of the year had missing modules in it, because of that I could not take a linguistics faculty module I wanted to, because it was not on the list. Also one module could not be selected online which had to make me go to campus - I do not think this is a serious issue but online things should function well.

Overall I am happy at Dinwiddy House, the location, safety and internet is brilliant as I gave those 5. Staff is very friendly and they make sure there is a good environment in the halls. They take care of communal areas and check anything regarding to anti social behaviour - this is not allowed. I just need to say that I demanded curtains to my room 2 times already this year - although I was told it will be done nothing has been done so far. Hopefully this will get done.
