Fantastic experience overall. I have really embraced university life here in Cambridge - I have taken part in many societies and clubs and have tried to take on positions of responsibility too. I hope to be able to continue research here beyond the Masters year
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Very good - academic and scientific facilities are top quality but also you are able to access sports/other facilities well
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
There is excellent support - I have both a tutor and an advisor but I have found I rarely need advise from the advisor as the tutor is so good
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
I don't get involved with the Cambridge students union because generally I find there is sufficient social activities and interactions within the college
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
I love the city life - very comfortable but doesnt feel too small either. There is a really nice community feel here with plenty to do and see
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
College clubs and societies are quality and diverse - I like to get involved in as much as I can within the college and there is plenty of opportunity to do that
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
The course has very little teaching elements, which is good for an MPhil student who wants to focus on working in the lab, however it would be good to have more spaces available on course where you can learn programming and computational biology
How many contact hours per week do you have?
3
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
We constantly receive emails about placements, schemes and scholarships, as well as course we can take to improve our transferrable skills
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Accommodation is very comfortable - the kitchen could be larger, with more social space, however the college kitchens produce good food so it balances out
