Given I have enjoyed my university experience very much so far despite being in a national lockdown for the majority of the time is a great testament to City, University. The learning, student support and wellbeing, socialisation opportunities and job prospects when combined make me excited to experience the rest of my degree at a wonderful university like City.

City, University of London has amazing student facilities particularly their library. The main university building has a multiple floor library one of which is a silent study space. It’s a beautiful building that will house all the lecture halls, seminar and tutorial rooms, a huge law library and plenty of space for students to complete their work as well as socialise. The university is also very accommodating to all students in terms of their faith and different beliefs. We have multi-faith and quite rooms where people can go to reflect, unwind and do some thinking. There are also beautiful prayer rooms for Muslim students that also welcomes people from all backgrounds which is fantastic. The university also runs multiple bursary and scholarship programs to further support students to are experiencing financial difficulties. This highlights that City, University values all students despite their backgrounds and allows equal opportunities for all.

I think that the personal support offered at my university is brilliant particularly during the pandemic and several lockdowns. They send e-mails to support students well being and help them deal with their mental health effectively. There are also so many different officers that specialise and are qualified to speak on mental health and are responsible for student wellbeing.

My course is currently being taught online due to the situation surrounding it the pandemic. However during the first term we had a blended method of learning where students where allowed on campus for some of their lessons. I found this great because I realised this academic year that I am a interactive learner and therefore I thrive off the traditional learning environment. Learning online is without a doubt extremely difficult especially given the work load that comes with a law degree however that being said City, University of London and the law school specifically have gone over and beyond to make sure all students have access to every opportunity to excel. In addition to this, there is a lot of support provided to students through our student health and well-being centre which I believe is very vital given the current global climate.

The City law school places a great importance in job prospects right from the start. Students are exposed to all sorts of extra curricular activities that will help boost their cvs and increase job prospects. Furthermore they hold various law fairs throughout the academic year to allow students to meet prospective employers to see what they’re looking for. Another excellent example of building connections for jobs in the future is the chance to be a firm ambassador that allows you to represent firms across the university . This guarantees you a paid post graduate degree and a job in future which is fantastic. We have various websites that we are encouraged to join in order to boost our cv that offer internships and vast employment information as well as opportunities. In addition to this I am certain there is more that the university does for job prospects however I am only in my second term of university so I haven’t completely discovered them all. That being said I strongly believe that completing a degree at City, University of London almost certainly guarantees you a job as a graduate.
