Aberdeen University is a wholesome place to study, in all seasons the campus looks amazing, there's no better feeling than walking to a lecture with the leaves blooming around you. The university doesn't just feel like a campus, it feels like a community. Overall I'm very passionate about the university and take pride in the place I study. I love that the university has the traditional feel within it, looking upon buildings like king's college and new kings you can also take pride upon the fact the campus has a great deal of history. That being said, sadly not every building within the university has the same feels, it would be nice to bring back some love to the buildings which aren't as extravagant. Overall if I was to change one element of the experience I'd love to have more student events, ways in which students can help make the university great, although we are extremely fortunate to have several events I feel we could benefit from some more. However, on the whole, there's very few things I'd change at this university, it generally is a university that fills students with such pride that they were given the opportunity to study here.

I feel fortunate be doing the course in which I am. I currently study psychology and legal studies and have a total of 6 law lectures a week and 4 psychology lectures a week. I also have a cycle of 4 week tutorials for both areas of my course. All of my lectures are conducted in person, with materials and assignments being online. I personally feel this a good way to conduct the course as it gives students that necessary time with their peers and lecturers in class but also that time to be independent and have flexibility within your learning. The course coordinates not only provide me with necessary materials but additional ones too, this allows me to continue my learning in an in-depth manner and engage further in particular areas that I remain interested within. Both departments that my course falls under have went above and beyond, the majority of the lecturers I have come in contact with have always welcomed me with open arms and have reminded me to email them with any further questions I may have. My lecturers have tended to respond quickly which I greatly appreciate as I understand they remain busy. Having support like this fills me with such confidence and makes my university experience less daunting knowing there's always support from the professionals.

I personally would not recommend these student halls, I had a very daunting time staying here for my first year at University. I had a very disruptive flat mate who continually played the bagpipes, despite having several complaints from other students in and around us. Hillhead very hesitant to take action and took them almost 10 months to do so! This was a great disadvantage to my learning and engagement with others. Putting that to one side, Hillhead is generally very out of the way in an awkward location for students, very little is within walking distance. Despite this, there is buses that run to and from here every 30 minutes, but it is very annoying having to rely on the buses every time you want to go anywhere. To add to the review, the rooms are very dated and very few rooms have ensuites, this is a very dated way of halls and is a nightmare for students who may not get on well with their flatmates. The walls between each room are also incredibly thin therefore questioning the privacy of each student and their room. All this being said, I feel Hillhead does have prospect, had some work been done, considering many students are paying upwards of £5,000 a year I feel they actually need to start making the halls value for money.
