The best aspects have to be some of the lecturers that I have encountered who are genuinely passionate about helping students. The campus is very beautiful and a lovely space to be around. The library spaces are nice and motivating. However, the University could have been more helpful in dealing with COVID and the war in Ukraine (I am a student of Russian language). There is no safety net or extra support in place despite the fact that I was unable to travel abroad for a key element of my degree.

The modules are mostly interesting and as a languages student I have a lot of contact hours in person.

The rooms were decently sized and quite modern. The maintenance staff were quick and attentive if there were any issues too. However, the location is quite far from campus (there is a free bus to take you there, though) and it made me feel less part of the action during first year.

Beautiful campus with excellent facilities, however the student accommodation is very expensive and the campus is far from the city making it difficult to get to the city centre (and expensive). There are also many compulsory options that are being added to courses that are limiting the flexibility of courses and often aren't known about until that year, meaning that prospective students aren't fully informed about their courses and may be misinformed - at the applicant day we were shown the modules of a graduate, which made the course seem very flexible but upon arrival found out that a bunch of compulsory modules had been introduced, meaning people on my course have no optional modules this year and have to study things they wouldn't overwise choose to do.

I was amazed to see how much support was offered for those with difficulties, the peer mentor system is great and has allowed me to learn a number of things about my course that the staff members would never mention - like further compulsory options in other years. However, personal tutors sometimes neglect their jobs and never contact their tutees, even when they are scheduled to do so

Good but some events are poorly organised.

It seems good from what I've experienced but I find it difficult to get there as you basically have to have a massive stash of pound coins for the laundry and buses. This is a problem as the uni is very far from the city so you have to get the bus there (to go 3 times a week would cost £6 and when you also need £6 for the laundry that can be difficult to come by.

Good but some could be more active - one of mine has only done 3 things since the beginning of the year whereas another which is based on the same things has film screenings every other week and a bunch of other activities to get involved in.

The lectures are good but some of the modules are quite pointless. As a language student I have to take modules such as intro to french and francophone studies which introduces you to the various aspects of culture so that you know what aspects you have an interest in, however as we have to have studied a language to a level equivalent most people already have a fairly good idea about what they're interested in, meaning this module is of no use to them and just limits the flexibility of the course.

There are regular job fairs and opportunities to gain important skills through things such as the nottingham advantage award. Also because the university has such a good reputation, employers are willing to employ their students.

I have to pay a fortune for the rent, but the facilities are awful, my room was a tip when I first moved in with broken chairs and awful paintwork and to top it all most things hardly work - I can barely get an Internet connection in my room, the poeple I rent from refuse to take action and tell us to sort it out ourselves, but everyone there has problems so it should automatically be sorted out. Also StudentCom don't help if you contact them anyway.
