OVERALL UNIVERSITY RATING
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
I am a first year student and Swansea University has made me feel welcomed every day since I arrived here, it is a university with great determination, it focuses on the students' needs and encourages involvement both within the university and in the community.
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
Swansea University often encourages students to apply for jobs, in order to achieve this it regularly holds events and meetings that allow students to immerse themselves with a wide range of employers and companies alike.
Course and Lecturers
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
The courses vary depending on what degree the student is doing but for me, I have always found the lecturers to be extremely welcoming and supportive, with the course and lectures themselves focusing on getting the best out of every student.
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
The student union at Swansea University is taken very seriously and I feel as though my views whether they be concerns or praises are always taken into consideration by members high up in status within the University structure.
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
I cannot comment too much on the accommodation as I do not live on campus, however the University does strive to make sure everyone finds a house/room and is always looking to build new ones for the high influx of students, particularly during my first year here.
How good are your university's facilities?
The facilities are always well looked after, clean and the technology provided is more than sufficient to achieve whatever work I need to do. More importantly I very rarely find myself looking for a place to do my work as there are computers for everyone and enough working spaces in the library .
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
The city life is perhaps one of the aspects that really makes Swansea itself memorable as well as the whole university experience; it is extremely hard to feel bored in Swansea and the city offers a wide spectrum of restaurants, shops, gyms, clubs etc...
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
The clubs and societies in Swansea University are outstanding, they provide the best support available and are sure to make everyone feel a part of the team and welcome. The timing for when most societies and clubs take place are not inconvenient and they make sure to let everyone know whenever there are changes or when an event is taking place.
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
The student support is made well aware right from the beginning, even before going to the University itself. The buildings where it is situated are easily accessible and as a student I am always reminded through Email as to what kind of help they offer and where to go to if I need it.
