Falmouth is a vibrant arts university, I thoroughly enjoy my course in Journalism and Creative writing, and the staff are excellent. The facilities are great, its a beautiful place and offers a lot to students. I am a disabled student and there has been support available, but have found difficulties accessing certain equipment to aid me on my course. The cafeteria has limited options for Celiacs which is a downside of the on campus facilities , alongside the highly expensive on campus shop, but the location and support of the tutors is excellent.

In first year during the pandemic there was a mixture of in class and online teaching which I felt was a good balance and especially helpful for me in terms of accessibility. In second year classes have been in person which has been good, we have to arrange any one to one contact with lecturers which i think is the case for the majority of universities and allows us flexibility

Falmouth has a vibrant arts community, being a local I was aware of the appeal of the location, and knew what to expect in the summer months and quiet winters. As it is a popular tourist location in the summer, the cost of living is quite high (especially in Falmouth town), and some on campus shops are very expensive. Luckily there are some more affordable shops such as Lidl, Asda etc not too far from campus. The busses are good with great links across Cornwall

Glasney Village is fantastic for first time students moving away from home as it offers independence yet security with the 24/7 on campus team, which helped me as I struggle with anxiety, and it helped me to feel more supported knowing there is always someone there. As a disabled student I requested an accessible room but this request was mixed up on allocation day- luckily the head of accommodation swiftly sorted things out and I was placed into the perfect location. The campus is beautiful and full of nature, outside my window there were lots of birds and wild rabbits and I highly recommend this location to any nature lovers as the campus is stunning. Our flat did suffer some wear and tear issues with boilers flooding, meaning some of my flatmates had to be evacuated to other rooms and we were all moved into another upgraded temporary accommodation whilst our kitchen floor was replaced, before returning to our newly fixed kitchen. The fire alarm tests are loud- but they need to be, not so great for late risers though! Overall I would recommend this accommodation

Course is amazing with great modules and experienced lecturers. Can be difficult to get hold of student support as it is outsourced through different companies and there are lots of departments, but everyone seems happy to help when you do get through to them. Really like student life and the atmosphere on campus, haven't had much interaction with the student union apart from their emails.

All in-person teaching which I find super helpful, though can book tutorials online if you prefer for the mentoring sessions. Modules are engaging and academic but also creative enough to allow you to respond to briefs and projects with your own ideas/interests. The Real Works employability team are great for networking with internships and career opportunities, but you have to take initiative and I think you get what you give in terms of seeking out your own opportunities.
