The best parts are the people here, every staff member and fellow student here have just been so kind and helpful no matter the case. Another great part is the top of the line facilities, inside of the Computer Science Building the computers seem top of the line and can run software seamlessly. They also record every lecture which is then automatically uploaded to Penopto which means if you need to go over the contents again or were unable to attend the lecture you can catch up by rewatching the lecture. The location is also very good since every day I get to walk down a beautiful road and if I ever need a place just to relax or just take a stroll to I can just go to the Botanic Garden and relax there and be captivated by all the unique and exotic species of plants. The Computer Science Building which is where I spend most of my time is a beautiful and modern building which has stained glass which really makes the building pop out and when the sun hits it right it is captivating. The student union is simply incredible, there is free food given out at the pantry on a regular basis, there are study and meeting rooms for students, there is a student common room with a kitchen and even entertainment such as board games or pool tables, there is a bar and a barista bar, a shop which you can get good deals at and even a concert hall! As for my student life it definitely has been a change from my normal however it has been a great experience so far and I hope it says this way. The worst part is moving from Spain over to Northern Ireland as my parents still live back there which means I shall rarely get to see them anymore. As for more negatives I cannot think of any, everything has been great here and the only issue is some technical issues such as microphones not working very well during lectures but that was immediately brought up in a Student course Rep meeting and fixed for the next lecture so I have no complaints.

The content on the course has been very through as it covers everything starting from scratch and building upon it further so even people who might not have done relevant subjects in the past can keep up with what we are doing in lectures and practicals. The pacing of the content is also very well done as it's not enough to overwhelm us but it's also enough where we are constantly learning and not just sitting around since too much time is being spent on teaching something which doesn't require a huge amount of time. As for work placements and internships I get weekly emails about what is currently on offer to queen's student, specifically to do with the IT field which I am in so there is a vast amount of choices which students can choose and Queen's also hosts events where they bring in local/international companies for students to meet. The Lectures have been very good and I won't repeat what I said in the first point but I shall add that the lectures themselves are experts in their fields which should go without saying but they are also very passionate about what they are teaching as can be heard from their voices when they teach which I think personally goes a long way in keeping the students attention. The Carrer prospects are amazing as can be evidenced by the second paragraph but I shall also add that I am doing a sandwich degree so I also get a year of professional experience and I have heard that queen's will not give you a job, they will help you make a good CV and hold mock interviews with you and give you insight on your performance and your strong/weak points but they won't give you the job, you need to go out there and get it yourself which I think is incredibly useful as in the future we will need to do this ourselves so they are giving us experience which we will need later in our careers. The tutor contact time is very good as if you really need to meet a tutor you can drop by their office no questions asked at certain periods of time but if not you can always drop them an email with your enquiry and from my experiences so far they seem to be very proactive on giving responses and solving any issues we students face. The subject facilities are amazing at queen's, specifically the Computer Science Building as their computers run software very smoothly and encounter no issues with performance, there are also top of the line Alienware computers for incase you need better performance for example running a machine learning algorithm with potentially thousands of instances at a time, we also use these computers from time to time after closing hours to hold gaming events which are very fun and have been great for finding like-minded people.

The halls are just down the road from the university buildings which allows for a nice refreshing walk in the mornings to get to class, it's also out of the way so no noise is heard at night which is very pleasant. The security is top notch, there are guards going around 24/7 and after a certain time they will ask for students to show their student card to ensure they actually belong here which I think helps with the feeling of safety a lot, I have also met and spoke with one of them before and they are very friendly and helpful which helped me resolve my issue that I had right away even though it wasn't really part of their job. The room allocation seems a bit random but the more you actually see it the less random it is, everyone is roughly the same age and almost everyone is a first year and the ratio of girls to boys is generally equal from what I have seen which I think is a very good thing as it allows for everyone to feel like they belong as they have someone they can talk to which is in a very similar situation of leaving their family for potentially the first time and going to university. The WiFi here is simply incredible compared to what I had in the past, it's download speeds are like lightning fast with if I recall correctly over 200 mb/s speeds and the WiFi is completely stable and has not had any connection issues at all so far. Everything is included in the weekly rent which I think is a very reasonable price for all the things that come with it, water, electric, 24/7 security, top notch internet, all the facilities you need so overall I would argue that Elms Village has a very good value for money. As for property management it seems like the buildings are kept in very good condition, even though apparently the building I'm staying in is one of the oldest ones in Elms Village it's still in great condition and I have seen no flaws at all with it, you could even tell me this building is only a few years old and hasn't been lived in before moved in and I honestly might believe you!
