Tell us about your overall university experience so far.

Overall, university has been great. I find the area rather small compared to Liverpool where I am from but it's a nice change and the course is perfect and is exactly what I was looking for.

Job Prospects

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?

There are multiple career advice sessions and there are always employability sessions on a regular basis helping us with future work prospects. Within my course we have a 7 week work placement which gives us necessary experience when going into our field after completing the degree.

Course and Lecturers

What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?

This is the only UK course that joins education with international development as a single honours. It recognises the impact of education on development and shows us a holistic perspective on developing countries. One of our lecturers is the head of education and has a real passion for the module which then passes onto us and he uses innovative technology within his sessions like VR headsets.

Students' Union

What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?

I've just never taken the opportunity to get involved more. I will drink and eat in the SU but maybe I should get more involved.

Accommodation

What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?

My accommodation is a catered university halls. Providing us with a mini kitchen for small cooking. We have shared bathrooms and a big room each with a sink. Having catered food is handy as we're on the go. The halls has a nice atmosphere and is central to all of the Uni buildings which is a necessity.

Uni Facilities

How good are your university's facilities?

Fantastic. Food places are good, gym facilities are at a good standard and everything I need is here on campus.

Local life

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

Aberystwyth is a small placce but it has lovely cafes and pubs and the seaside is an added bonus. It's a friendly area and I recently found out that Aber took some Syrian refugee's into its town which I love the idea of. It's a nice atmosphere with a real willingness to help other people.

Societies and Sports

How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?

The clubs are mediocre. There are only two actual clubs but the pubs in the area are all a good place to start a night out. Societies are good and there is a wide array of things to choose from and get involved with.

Student Support

How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).

Excellent. Feedback for me has been prompt and quick. Counselling wise I have always received help when I needed it and the staff are all very considerate in helping with issues I may have.
