A great city, great people and a great university and union. However, very few contact hours and modules were a bit repetitive.

Worst aspects are the overall administration and direction of the uni, with very little or no acknowledgement of student desires or needs in education, especially for cohorts attending during the years of covid lockdowns. Feel extremely letdown by the university as an institution, as across the three years of my degree I had a single semester of in-person lectures, and have been treated as if my cohorts learning experience in first and second year was identical to every other year attending previous to 2020. On the other hand, the quality of tutoring has been extremely high and with almost no exceptions I have found my tutors consistently engaging, mind-expanding and motivated to support students in studies and general learning.

I have found receiving the majority of my teaching across the course online extremely disappointing and un-engaging, I feel the quantity of online teaching seriously negatively the impact of the university education receieved by my year, as well as the ones immediately above and below mine. I think given the extreme deficit of in-person teaching we have all received the university should have at least guaranteed all teaching last year (2021-22) to be in-person, if not mandated more contact hours in third year. I feel we have been largely unable to develop the sort of independent working/learning skills I had hoped would result from the degree course. On the other hand almost all in-person classes I have attended have been extremely stimulating, and so I have to praise tutors for that, as I feel they have done everything within their power to make their teaching as engaging as possible in often bizzarre circumstances.

Too expensive for what the living conditions in halls were like , however practical aspects such as wifi and property management were generally functional (in my own experience, not everyone's I'm sure). However the extent of policing (both by University security and the police itself) during first year was horrific, as barely a day went by where the level of socialising wasn't extensively surveilled.
