So far including my foundation course. I’ve been very happy with the type of work I’ve been assigned as well as how supportive my tutors are all the time. I enjoy the additional lecture talks provided to me, as well as how open the space is. I like how we are not confined in a room dedicated to specific years and courses, but instead, my university encourages us to interact with other years and students by allowing us to reside in the same floor without block walls separating us.

I’m very happy with the facilities of my university. There is a lot of kit we can borrow and use to choose from. The prototyping room has good machines that I use very often. The people who work in the prototyping room are very very friendly and helpful as full. They will always help you with any work you need.

I believe the support is very good. I get one to one tutorials with my tutor twice a week for the whole day. Their feedback is very useful because they are always encouraging you to do more and ways to improve but will not pressure you. They are very understand of your work and will go through the brief of assignment with you (as a group or one to one) if you really don’t understand it. Other than my tutor, the support given to me by student services also helped me greatly as well (personally). I always feel supported by my university so I’m not worried if I have any questions or need help. The IT department are also great because they will always try their best to help with any technical issues with your digital devices. Last year in my foundation course, my laptop was not working properly which made me really stressed as my deadline was coming up and although it took a very long time to solve the problem (which was my laptop’s fault), with determination and patience. The problem was solved so I’m ever so grateful to them.

They are wonderful. The students union are very very helpful, there are drop in sessions from student services where they will talk to you one to one so it’s more private. There are always events created by my students Union which are open to everyone from all courses. There are also a reception that will answer any questions or help you with any small things. The receptions is always there everyday in university time.

Ravensbourne is literally a minute away from the station so it is quite convenient for people that travel by train. There are also close accommodations (usually around 10 minutes away) and around those accommodations, there’s a few local shops as well as a lot of greenery. My university is also next to the 02 Arena so there’s always good food around and there’s also local shops as well. There is also a lot of large warehouse type shops a few minutes away which is great when I need to buy materials to do my work.

From what I know there is a lot of societies you can join. My university does encourage you to be active in your clubs and interests. However, I personally have not joined any societies or sports linked to university so I cannot rate accurately from personal experience.

I’m still only studying my first year but I did do a foundation course in my university. Currently, I love how open and creative my course is at my current stage. So far, the course is not very restricted and allowed me to explore building from other point of views and methods. It has helped my improve my drawing skills and get used to the university’s amount of work and presentation methods before I drive right into the more serious, technical aspect of my course. It’s not too overwhelming because my course slowly ease us into the more difficult side of it.

My university always bring people outside that work in our major/ course to come in and talk to us about their process from a student to their current stage. I find it very helpful because it gives me a better understanding of what could happen to me after I finish my course. My university also encourages you to make connections and curiosity to know more about the industry by helping you with work experience, CVs and any other career related things.
