The environment is welcoming and friendly, it feels safe as there is no space for judgement. The opportunities are endless with the staff on hand to push you to do your best. The facilities are great with workshop Wednesdays to try out new things and lots of technical support around in case you need advice. The canteen offers a wide range of foods with a changing menu each week! However, even though the courses here are full time, you’re only taught two days of the week, all the other time is independent study. On top of this, the staff are part time and only work allocated days of the week so if you by chance need help with a unit but the staff aren’t working you won’t receive contact from them until their next working day. This means you could be waiting up to 4 days for a response depending on when you send your query. So plan your time well!

Course is taught 2 days a week. Majority of the work is done on a computer so you’ll need to be ready to learn new computer programs such as adobe, autocad, sketchup. The base room is open until about 9pm so you’ll have plenty of time to complete this work and practice the programs. One to ones are always handy, the staff are great at giving you critical feedback to push you to do your best and add little bits in to make your project that bit better. There are opportunities to mingle with other disciplines within your projects so you get to meet a range of people outside your course also.

Plymouth is an okay place, there’s not much to do outside of the city centre. It’s always quite heavy traffic especially around drake circus but if you don’t drive then you don’t have to worry about it. Some interesting characters to say the least. But I guess it’s more about the people you’re with that make it a great place. The Hoe is a beautiful place to go and it’s so close to the sea so lots of beauty just on the outskirts of the city centre, it’s mad to think these places are within walking distance of the main high street.

I have found the team in student support very helpful when I was feeling anxious I have managed to get a range of treatments to help my study better on my course. There is always room for improvement but I can’t comment on anything particular I am displeased about

The teachers on my course are great, very informative. I have learned a lot and I think it is great that they work in the industry so you get taught from the best.
