Newcastle as a city is truly unique - everyone is so welcome and friendly, prices are much more affordable than most of the country and there's always so much to go do and explore. The university takes all the best parts of the city and adds more to it - especially the architecture, from the old buildings like the Armstrong Building to the modern new-builds like the Helix.

Combined honours is a great course because you get to study two or three subjects at once. The combined honours team is generally pretty good at accommodating timetable requests and working to ensure you still get the same degree of teaching as single honours students. The lecturers vary in friendliness and skill quite a lot - some are very unapproachable and downright rude to students but others are amazing and always there for a chat about their subject, it really varies from module to module. Tutors are very hands-off so you have to be proactive if you want help or advice, personally I haven't really benefited from having my tutor and usually I by-pass them and go straight to the Combined Honours team or my module leaders.

A bit more on the pricy side but well worth it especially in first year when everything is new and scary - it's a nice big accom. so there's always people about so you feel safe. The ladies on the front desk are super lovely and always down for a chat when you're collecting parcels. The rooms are a decent size for what you're paying and the kitchen is pretty well stocked with equipment like air fryers, toasters and a kettle.
