Glasgow is the perfect place to study and live! It's beautiful and the weather is not that bad as people would have you thinking. It has a strong international community which will make you feel welcome and miss home a little less. The University of Glasgow allows you to choose almost any subject you want to study outside your required courses, which allows you to diversify your knowledge. As for accommodation, you should think carefully where you want to live, since most of the university's halls are outside campus.

The staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, and they are always eager to help. The courses offered are academically stimulating and consider new methodological and historiographical developments. The university organises a number of social as well as academic events, and the career services offer great advice on both finding employment and applying for postgraduate study. Additionally, the library and its special collections make Glasgow a great place to study history. The location is amazing with many parks, museums, shops and cafes around. The main building is beautiful and right next to a park, which makes it a perfect place to go for a walk in between studying. There's plenty to do in Glasgow, and it's easy to visit other Scottish cities. Some of the older facilities and their tech could be improved upon, and the current rental crisis in Glasgow means some students have had problems securing accommodation, but overall the University of Glasgow is wonderful for studying history.

The blended approach works well with history, and staff has done its best to adapt to both lockdowns and the current UCU strikes. Lecturers are always ready to meet students outside class time to discuss any questions and concerns. The faculty does its best to support history students in finding employment in the field, including career advice and offering internships.
