Essex is a vibrant community, supportive and encouraging. As a (very) mature student I thought I might feel isolated, but no! The campus is a mix of brutalist and nature. The feel of walking between concrete tower blocks, turning a corner and coming across the trees and lake with the sound of the fountain as a backdrop. There are plenty of food outlets, but it would be great to find more healthy options for mealtimes.

The seminars are full on, interaction and input are expected. This makes for a great learning experience. The seminar length could be extended to 3 hours instead of 2 as there's a lot to cram in. As a part-time MA student some of the topics seem geared to the full-time students, especially with the lead up to the FT course dissertation.

- Lots of support from the lecturers, the SU is great, they always have crafts and events on, the facilities (library, theatre, gym, food, etc) are really good - Some of the campus desperately needs to be cleaned and there should be a bit more mental health support

- The lecturers are really good, lots of support, most of them keep things engaging and choose relevant writings, most of them are really nice and approachable - Some of the lecturers should offer a little bit more support and be a bit more approachable

- Security everywhere, South Courts is really quiet, the rooms are massive (in this area), the flats are small so you get to know each other really well, it’s really close to the gym and to campus so it’s only a 5-10 minute walk from most things and it’s easy to get to the bus stop - The windows and walls are really thin so you hear EVERYTHING outside, and there are no curtains only very seethrough blinds so your room is never actually dark
