So far my university experience has been amazing! I’ve made new friends both in the accommodation and on my course. As well as this I feel safe on campus and know that if I need to speak to people there is always someone about both academically and personally. As well as this there is always plenty to do so if you are bored and in need of something fun or exciting there’s always something on campus or in Ormskirk that is there for you to do.

They have a very dedicated careers department and a specialist site that you can log into and look for jobs which is very easy to use and access. They also have drop in appointments and arrange various workshops on things such as Cv’s.

I like the fact that it covers a broad range of subjects and time periods as well as the fact that there is, as well as the fact that all the staff have an open door policy if they are in their offices. I dislike the fact that there is a tiny minority of teaching staff that still use outdated methods.

They are great! They always have various events organised each week and keep the Facebook page and instagram updated with what sort of things are going on in the uni over the week. They also arrange trips out of the uni which are often free and sometimes with food included.

The halls that I live in are very good for the price. The only thing that particularly bothers me about them is the fact that we pay the same price as two other accommodations and they have more facilities within their kitchen-living area, which seems unfair when the same price is paid.

The majority of the facilities are excellent. The new library which has just been opened is brilliant and spacious with plenty of books and all the support teams within - as well as an amazing coffee shop. The gym area is only small but has various equipment and is very good. The hub area is great it has various food areas and a grocery shop which is open till 11 every night, this is extremely helpful if you forget to get some little bits and pieces but can be quite expensive. The thing I’m not the biggest fan of is the ‘street’ or the SU. It’s looks a bit out dated but it does have a very good bar and shop and subway. The final thing that I absolutely cannot stand and think needs fixing ASAP is the laundrette. They use circuit washers which are dreadful and don’t work. They charge you and then don’t work so you have to pay more. They also just end up making the clothes worse than they went in and there isn’t enough. There’s always loads broken and it’s just generally disgusting and smells.

Ormskirk is a 10 min walk from the uni and have various pubs and bars and a club. They are very cheap and brilliant for a night out. But if that’s not what someone wants you can get the train to Liverpool from Ormskirk till 11:45 which is really good and that takes about 30 mins and there, there is everything you could want and it is around £25 for a taxi vack which isn’t bad when sharing with people.

From what I’ve heard they are really good. I’m currently in the process of helping to set up the history society, so I don’t really know how things run yet. However, there are many different societies to join and there is something for everyone.

The academic support is great, the tutors have an open door policy meaning you can go see them if they are in their office. There are also services available within the library that can help with academic writing and referencing as well as this they hold workshops to help. The feedback given is very useful and is broken down into various categories to help tell you what is good and what needs improving.
