University of York is a great place to study. I feel like the uni is dedicated to helping students feel at ease - the uni was one of the first to implement financial support for the energy crisis. The campus itself is lovely to be on, it is very peaceful and has been build with serenity in mind - great for mental health. And services provided by uni are so supportive for dealing with stresses & health issues. I believe that my uni experience could be improved via the student Union. I feel like funding could be better for societies to run well and student nights/socials could be made really popular and exciting.

University of York has top rated departments with so many amazing opportunities within research. My own department, psychology, has been able to provide me projects which are equivalent to PhD opportunities in other universities. I have access to state of the art technology too. The department is driven to bridge students into the workforce after higher education and are incredibly supportive through this process. I am also enjoying blended learning (lecture content online and seminars in person) since I feel it has a good balance. The only thing I would say is that it is very much up to the lecturer to make that choice and some lecturers prefer doing all of it in person which is very cognitively demanding and draining. I would also say that my contact hours have decreased lots since coming into 4th year but I suppose that is the nature of 4th year anyway.

I haven’t lived in halls for quite a few years but my experience in halls was great. The college was a 10min walk away from my department and the location was great - tucked away from all the business and it wasn’t just freshness living there - there were mature students with their families so it had a good community vibe. One criticism is that although I think it is quite safe, I’d like more lampposts around the college/ down alleyways since it can get really dark.

Best things - nice campus, good facillities, lots of active clubs and societies (even if the students union is a bit rubbish) Worst things - some teaching is still online, communication isn't always great, bit of a walk into the centre of York, expensive on campus cafes
