Some of my favourite things about the University of Nottingham are the beautiful green spaces on campus, comfortable study areas, as well as the amazing sports facilities. I have constant access to support - whether it be technology related, help with accommodation, or pastoral care a quick email or phone call away which has really aided my independence with moving to University. I particularly find the catered halls are a great way to settle into Uni life without worrying about food prep - and it is a great way to meet lots of people. There is not much I can think of to improve except we have a couple of the issues with occasionally patchy WIFI service and there seem to be a lot of bike thefts so I am not confident in taking my bike here with me.

My lecturers and seminar leaders are engaging and inspiring and I have an exciting and varied course structure. I find the materials and lecture recordings very easy to access and my lecturers are always happy to explain concepts again if we are confused. A unique feature about studying medicine at the University of Nottingham is that the course offers both prosection and full body dissection which is an incredibly immersive and memorable way to learn anatomy. The medical school has so many optional talks and societies to introduce and excite students about different specialities - I have loved the SCRUBS society suturing / surgery workshops. The medical school has a supportive ethos with Upper year students frequently mentoring and teaching the lower years - there is a medic parent and peer mentoring network to get study tips and a place to chat about difficulties with the course. The course is almost entirely in-person teaching with only a few self-directed study lectures per week. Going to lectures in person is a great experience - the sessions often have an interactive element where you can send questions to the lecturer on SLIDO and there is also the option to watch the lecture recordings from your room online.

I love my room and the facilities in halls. I chose to live in the 'Quiet Accommodation' where there are not flat parties or excessive noise late at night or early in the morning which makes for a great environment for me to study, relax, and sleep well. My room is large and equipped with my own miniature fridge and kettle which I was pleasantly surprised to have. I really enjoy the catered meals as it is a great way to socialise and meet with friends for breakfast and dinner. It also gives me time to settle into University without the pressure of learning how to cook! The menu is varied and regularly revised so I am never bored or dissatisfied with the food choices and the halls cooked breakfast is definitely worth getting out of bed for! I am not a fan of the current building work which is happening in my halls - the water pipe error is being promptly fixed but it can be very noisy early in the morning!
