This is my second year. I did work experience 10 years ago at the collage and the rate this university is improving its facilities for students is unbelievable. As a student I think this is a really valuable course for the local area to.

Really well job opportunities fair is coming up where employers come and visit

My overall experience this year has been very good, if different to last year, which was in my opinion a lot better. Where I struggled was where we were learning and attending classes online, I began to feel very isolated and alone and not part of the University, more like just a number, however this this is my own personal issue, not a fault of the uni. I am hopeful that the work that has been put into the uni this year will reflect on the next academic year and then it will be the best one of my course so far.

Our University’s facilities are some of the best in the country for Chiropractic courses. We have a large library dedicated solely to the manual therapy degrees we have on offer. We are also fortunate to have a clinic on campus for final year students whereby they can have their year in practice on site with tutors available to discuss cases with, as well as offering free treatments to students. This includes an x-ray facility, upright MRI scanner and a rehab centre. We also have a sports rehabilitation centre for the clinical exercise and rehab science course, which is invaluable for them, and we also have a radiology department for the radiology students. We have also recently had a brand-new state of the art gym installed which unfortunately we have not been able to use yet but hope to in the next year.

We have specialist champions, who are there to support all students who may fall into a minority category, as well as being conscious regarding student wellbeing and our sustainability as a university. We have a library and learning services team who help with academic support, as well as any personal issues and/or concerns that they would like to discuss confidentially. This year we have also developed a new account which is specially for who has concerns regarding covid.

While lectures and workshops are taught on Zoom at the moment, we are still fortunate enough to have some practical classes and labs which we can attend on campus to ensure we can further develop our necessary practical skills. It has to be said that a lot of work goes on behind-the-scenes to ensure our education doesn’t suffer.

Being such a small course our job prospects are very very good when we graduate. We have a final year in practice which is able to be carried out on campus, rather than elsewhere. We also have ‘speed meets’ which is where employers can advertise their job vacancies and interview students who are looking to apply, which sets us up for really good employment prospects once we have graduated.
