MMU is an amazing university. The buildings are modern and pleasing to look at especially the new SODA building (I love the animations they put on the front of the building!). The union is well-equipped with a starbucks, a restaurant, and a store with groceries, art supplies and more. There's so much support for those who need it such as international students, mature students, disabled students, or even those just struggling with their mental health. There's always someone to help you out. The accredited accomodation Archway Halls is amazing, constantly hosting events with a super friendly ResLife team and a great social lounge. If you don't like going out much or if you just prefer to live a quieter life there's specific accomodation for that so you can feel welcome. The course is structured (mostly) in a convenient way, and they listen to feedback when things just aren't working. The other students are friendly and welcoming, and it makes sense, being in a city like Manchester everyone is open and accepting which was a big change from my hometown. The library is 24/7 and the Art School has a great AV store where you can borrow any equipment you need to get your projects done, as well as a woodworking suite, lasercutting suite, and more. Overall, the uni has very few flaws and the ones it does have, it listens and tries to help make it better. I'm really glad I picked MMU and I'm excited to spend the next few years here.

The course content is great for the most part. We get taught exclusively in person (aside from when train strikes occur) and it's very hands on. We're always creating, and it all helps us toward our final projects. It can be hard to find time to speak with some of the lecturers as they're so busy, but, they do their best to let us know times they're available for meetings. The content we learn is all relevant to our careers - even if you're not interested in X, the skills and fundamentals you learn will help you towards Y. The teaching quality was a little rough at the beginning of the year. They got a lot more students than they expected and weren't prepared for it, so we weren't all able to catch up easily in workshops or the lecturer would move too fast through them. However after talking to our Student Rep our lecturer slowed down and began recording her lectures so we can look back on them later. They're very receptive to feedback. We don't currently have enough facilities (as in drawing tablets) as our class is larger than expected and there just aren't enough to go around, nevermind how cramped it is, however this is not the lecturers' fault and in fact they've been working hard to ensure this will improve over the next year. Co-Labs is a good idea on paper - students from different courses collaborate and create some work using a prompt Machine, Body, Society, or Storytelling. However most students do not show up for this, and it is clear that most of the lecturers don't want to be there for this either. They're still receptive to our feedback, it's just disappointing that 15 credits of every semester goes toward this, when we could be doing something else. Overall the course is great, the Co-Labs is it's only shortfall however like I said, they're working to improve it.

Halls were expensive which I knew they would be coming into it however to me it was worth it for one year to experience it. However I have been reminded that I do not like house-shares. My friends seem to have gotten lucky with their housemates - mine are up at 2am screaming, shouting, even on weeknights. Despite that, the rooms are beautiful and the kitchen is massive. You have underbed storage and an ensuite, a pinboard, a desk, comfy chair, 2 bins, and a small double bed. I feel very safe here as there is always campus security around during the nights. There's a Spar and a Best One just around the corner for any late-night snacks or drinks, and an Asda ten minutes down the road for your groceries. It's super close to the uni (5 minute walk) and important bus routes. The location is perfect. The wifi is a bit hit and miss - but overall it's better than I expected. The lights auto-turn off to save energy which I think is super cool. If there's ever an issue maintenance will come and fix it asap. There's always events being held in the main reception and there's a great social lounge and a gym. Overall great accomodation and worth the price!
