Firstly, the University location is good because it is near a train station, so makes it easier for commuting students to attend all their timetabled lectures, labs, and seminars. The University also have great facilities such as many scientific equipment for experiments that most schools don't have access to or can't afford it. There are also many designated areas for students to hang out in, helping create a sense of community and a way to socialise. The lectures and course directors in the CCCU'S FSESS department are amazing. They always are willing to talk to you about their subject and help in any way possible, not to mention they are very friendly and make it easy for students to feel comfortable enough to talk to them. Finally, the Science, WECS, and Geography courses are much more hands on than other Universities, and Sixth form. With a plethora of lab sessions and fieldwork to take part in every semester.

Best aspects: - Course team: The course team are extremely friendly and make you feel comfortable from day 1. Their teaching style is really good as it involves many discussion based activities, which many students find has a positive impact on their learning. - Amount of Lab sessions and Fieldwork: At least half of all timetabled sessions in each semester are either Lab-based or field trips. This helps put into practise our learning, rather than memorising notes. - Timetable: The timetable is spread out, creating huge opportunities for independent learning and work. Worst aspects: - Unrelated practicals - although it is good to have experience and wider knowledge, some Lab sessions do not directly apply to people's course e.g. Geography students may do practicals that are related to Chemistry.

The night life is decent, there's a lot of places you can choose from. My advice would be to don't hold back, be as sociable as you can, especially in your first few weeks as that is the most vital time to make friends.
