The societies and freedom to plan my own schedule around uni is something I really appreciate - there's a lot of free time to explore avenues apart from study that have helped me grow and flourish into my own person, and figure out what I really want from life. The studying though, does feel a little put-to-the-side at times, and In first year I really struggled to get stuck in. Second year I'm faring better, but the sparse lecture schedule could be annoying for those who want to study or don't have many hobbies.

Blended learning isn't ideal (for me at least). The lecturers are lovely but I feel like I don't see them very often, and the content in some of the earlier modules can be really disengaging. The lecturers don't always make use of the online features and it leads to repetitive and boring content that makes going to lectures redundant. I would prefer more in-person events and it seems that 2nd year is improving on some of these issues, but I'm still worried about getting demotivated when trying to study from home.

Waaaaay too expensive. I purposely went for the cheapest room, and it was still far more expensive than any other place (some of which had far better amenities btw). Otherwise, I really enjoyed it there. It was super close to the Uni, the park, and Lidl was just down the road, so it was super convenient. Also, the people I roomed with were fantastic (went on to be housemates in 2nd year) and the way the halls are set up leads to lots of opportunity to get to know your neighbours. It starts to feel like a community and I really appreciate all the little events that went on while we were there.

the best aspects of my uni experience at Abertay are the lectures and the support they provide us with we can run by any questions we have and they will always reply ASAP. As it is a smaller campus you can form a relationship with the lectures making it a lot easier to interact and making lectures and class more enjoyable. Abertay also offers unique courses you don't find anywhere else, especially for video games and psychology you can pick a specific degree. The worst aspect of my uni experience was not having a student union where we could all go after hours to wind down after a stressful day and the nightlife and social aspects being pretty scarce. overall Abertay is a great place to study and I would recommend it to anyone.

my course is taught with blended learning and is only run for 8 hours per week with the expectation we would go and spend the rest of our time studying independently. Our lectures are mostly recorded and placed online for us to follow. we can use our free time to copy down notes, start assessments, read the readings provided and study. lectures are very easy to get in contact with you usually get a reply that day or the next working day and they always answer you. The blended learning can be okay but frustrating as you prefer to be on campus.

Parker House is a 5-minute walk from Abertay uni and around 5-10 minutes from the city centre. it is gated and you can only gain access to the buildings, flats and rooms with a key fob. There is a gym on-site including a common room with a pool table, washing machines and dryers and reception where there is someone there 24/7. Whilst staying here you only have to pay rent and food. the only issue is not knowing who you will be placed in a flat with but can sometimes sort something out if you want to be moved.
